I think OJ has finally recovered now. Nothing showed up on his x-ray, so the vet said it was just a bad sprain. He has to take flexicam in his food and go back next week if hes not better. I walked him a bit yesterday and he seems fine thank God! Dougal thought it would be fun to be sick too, and had to get four injections yesterday. He’s on drugs for the weekend too! I don’t know what kind of dogs i have, but they are still really lively when they are sick. Today is Dermot Morgan’s 10th anniversary. Mad! I feel old! I bought the definitive father Ted box set on amazon last, along with other cds that i don’t really need. I spent some money this week! If i see another injection/tablet i’ll crack up!
I took him to the vet on thursday evening and he got an injection and tablets for his limpy leg. She told me he would have to get xrayed if he wasn’t better on monday, and he’s not. I left him in this morning, went to work and tried to concentrate for the rest of the day. Hopefully its just a bad sprain that will heal after some more rest, but i’ll find out soon. Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova won the oscar for falling slowly, which really cheered me up today. I’m delighted people will finally realise how great the frames music is! an oscar!!! wow! O.J’s brother is called Oscar, so maybe the good luck will continue for him.
Today is the first day I haven’t taken OJ to work since I got him. When I was walking to work yesterday he started limping. I thought he might be ok after a rest but when I took him outside before my course he was still limping, and he was no better this morning. His paw doesn’t hurt when we touch it, so I’m taking him to the vet this evening (before I eat dinner and start the trocaire 24 hour fast!) OJ was in a strange mood this week. He was very quiet in work on Monday, but everyone said he was just huffing because I was getting all the attention because it was my birthday! He seems happy enough now even though he’s limping, so hopefully the vet will sort him out.
Well its my final day being 21! Of course I couldn’t wait to have a 21st party, but my 22nd birthday doesn’t seem so exciting. It hasn’t stopped me celebrating though. Went to see the excellent Foy Vance in Derry on Thursday. Wasn’t sure how loud it would be so left OJ behind. The girls took me for dinner and to see Juno on Friday, so he was neglected then too. Its nearly my birthday though I think he understands. I had a proper day off last Friday, which was a change. I went for lunch with my mum Jack and Danny (2 nephews). Theres an O.J lookalike hanging around the café, and O.J isn’t impressed cos its his local! The weathers unusually mild these days, so we can do lots of walking. He went to the hairdressers with me yesterday and was a bit freaked out by the hairdryers and smells for a while. Then we walked to Maureens and OJ and Jack played football for ages. I’ll be working from 1 til 7 on Monday, but birthdays are always a bit more relaxed in work. There will be kids in the building, so OJ will enjoy it too. He’s not getting any cake its bad for dogs!
Got a new laptop on friday, and moved to a new desk in the office on monday. OJ keeps going to our old one still but he’ll get used to it soon. Thank God Januarys over! Its been six months since i went to Cork to train with OJ. Hard to believe! Sometimes it feels like ive had him for years. The last 6 months have been great, and i’m never ever ever using a cane again! Today is pancake tuesday. dont suppose dog pancakes have been invented yet? No i didn’t think so.
